This is a unique skittish animal genre scene by an unprecedented French painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864 - 1901).

He is widely known for his sketchy paintings and drawings of cabaret girls and demimondaines from the Parisian [Montmartre in particular] period in his adult career.

However this lovely frisky image - Touc, Seated on a Table, 1879-1881 - was painted by young Toulouse-Lautrec when he was only about 15-17 years old.

👉 It was a tough period for a young boy suffering from a double fracture of his right and left femurs [his legs almost stopped growing after these accidents resulting in Toulouse-Lautrec's unusual look further in his life].

This unfortunate trauma kind of locked him at home yet made him develop his talent to later become one of the most unconventional painters of the late 19th century.
